Monday, January 4
In mid-January 2010 Batumi will host the fifth European energy summit, which Polish President Lech Kaczinski is ready to participate in. Previous summits have been held in Krakow in 2007, then Vilnius, then Kiev and Baku.

The major issue to be discussed will be the further development of the idea of creating a Eurasian energy corridor which will transport Caspian oil and gas into Europe by bypassing Russia. The Polish President is very interested in activating the Odessa-Brody pipeline by extending it further, to Plock and then up to the port of Gdansk.

The Presidents of Lithuania, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Romania and some other EU countries will participate in the Batumi summit.
