Ukrainian elections issue

Polish expert Lukasz Adamski thinks that Ukraine’s next President will most probably be Viktor Yanukovich. He suggests that after Yanukovich’s election relations between Moscow and Kiev will become warmer, but that does not mean that Yanukovich will become Russia’s representative in Kiev.

Adamski believes that Yanukovich will continue to orient Ukraine towards Europe but not in the direction of joining NATO, as his electorate does not want this. Adamski thinks that a very important step, which will presumably be taken by Yanukovich, to mend Kiev-Moscow relations will be the recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The declaration of the Russian language as the second state language in Ukraine might also help mend relations.
