Noghaideli asks Ukrainian businessmen to finance Georgian TV stations

Rezonansi reports that the leader of the Movement for United Georgia, Zurab Noghaideli, has held negotiations with Ukrainian businessmen about financing independent Georgian TV stations.

Noghaideli announced at his party's office after returning from Ukraine: “I have not met representatives of Ukrainian political parties. I have talked to Ukrainian businessmen about financing independent Georgian TV stations. Full information will be known only after these negotiations have been concluded,” said Noghaideli.

The former Prime Minister did not specify which TV stations he was referring to. He did however say that regional channels are among them.

Ugulava has become dangerous for Saakashvili

“Who the National Movement's candidate at the Tbilisi Mayoral elections will be has been discussed for a long time. Saakashvili has already decided this, as he does other things. He has named Gigi Ugulava. Saakashvili will do his best to make Ugulava the winner. He does this because he wants to show Ugulava that he will not be Mayor without helping him,” states former member of the National Movement and MP Aleko Shalamberidze in an interview with Akhali Taoba.

“Saakashvili will not let Ugulava really be elected by the people. Ugulava will not oppose Saakashvili at this stage but the people’s support would change things. Being elected by the people makes you very important. It is highly likely that Ugulava will think for himself, he already has different opinions from Saakashvili on some issues, such as NATO, on which it is known that he has had a disagreement with Saakashvili. Saakashvili is a jealous and quite clever man and knows that Ugulava will oppose to him eventually so will try to elect Ugulava through his means,” says Shalamberidze.

“As for the other candidates, Gia Chanturia, Nika Ivanishvili and Davit Iakobidze, they have also been named only after agreement with Saakashvili. Chanturia did not finance any revolution. Saakashvili needed to say this and spread rumours to that effect. Chanturia was dangerous for Saakashvili at that time. Now Saakashvili needs him and has made the opposition select him as a candidate for Mayor. Chanturia has been offered a deal - return to Georgia and be a Mayoral candidate. People who come into politics by chance end up in bad situations later, and Badri Patarkatsishvili is a clear example of this,” added Shalamberidze.

Vakhtang Komakhidze’s film will be ready in two months

“I have been working on a film about the Georgian-Ossetian conflict. I want to finish it very soon. I can say without hesitation that it will be ready in two months,” states the director of Studio Reporter and journalist Vakhtang Komakhidze in an interview with Rezonansi.

”The film is about the relationship between Georgia and Ossetia since the nineties. I cannot say anything about the slant of the film because I have a lot of information but am waiting for new material. I have some outlines only. I will accept materials from anyone who can help us,” added Komakhidze.
