Moscow thinks that the Georgian state strategy on the occupied territories will not yield any results. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Andrey Nesterenko thinks that however attractive such a strategy could be it will not bring about any changes. However he stated that Georgia’s move to introduce a new strategy means that Georgia has given up violence and war.

It is a pity that this concept has only appeared now, Nesterenko said. If it had been suggested three to four years ago it would have been valuable, however the Georgian leadership was not considering any kind of involvement or cooperation then. Georgia was getting ready to strangle these 'republics' and then attack them militarily, stated Nesterenko. He also mentioned that using the term 'occupied territories' is absolutely inappropriate in the present context.
