So-called President of the self-proclaimed Nagorno Karabakh Republic Bako Saakian has stated during a discussion at its so-called Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the basis of Karabakh's foreign policy is a balanced and multi vectored approach determined by the peculiarities of the region and the existence of diasporas in different countries.

The major issue for the unrecognised state, according to Saakian, is to participate in the international community as a full member. Negotiations about resolving the frozen conflict there are the priority at present.
