Wednesday, March 31The Georgian economy contracted 3.9% in 2009, the statistical services of the country conclude. Analysts think however that the figures are unreliable due to a different method of calculating GDP being used. If calculations are done is USD the contraction appears greater, therefore GEL calculations have been used.
Economic analyst Soso Archuadze however thinks that country should calculate its economic indicators in the local currency, although adding that without international donor assistance the contraction of the economy would have been greater.
