On June 8 a press conference was held by the Prime Ministers of Turkey and Russia in Istanbul. Naturally they touched upon the natural gas issue. Turkish premier Erdogan highlighted that his country is prepared to accept natural gas from different sources. For his part premier Putin said that Azeri gas alone is not sufficient to fill the NABUCCO pipeline.

On June 7 Azerbaijan and Turkey signed documents on the natural gas issue which set the price for the transportation through Turkey of gas extracted at the first and second stages of Azeri gas field exploitation. An agreement on gas transit price via Turkey was also concluded.
