Sheep exports to Arab countries will continue in 2010. Arab countries want to buy 350,000 Georgian sheep before the end of this year. The country has the potential to breed two million sheep annually and sell 1.5 million.

According to different estimates there are 700-900,000 sheep in Georgia. Sheep exports began two years ago. If serious steps are not taken in this direction and exports are not regulated appropriately this mass sheep breeding could ultimately be damaging for the country, as even a profitable business needs to conduct a well-balanced policy.
