A new modernised train is now travelling from Tbilisi to Nikozi, the last village before you get to the Russian-occupied Tskhinvali district. The old train could not get to Nikozi as the railway line was damaged. Thanks to the financial assistance of the Georgian Railway Department, the damaged sector of the railway line was reconstructed several months ago and the trip can now be made without hindrance.

The ticket price for the new train has not changed, being still GEL 1. The new staff of the train was presented at Gori railway station on Thursday, when along with locals, the Governor of the Shida Kartli Region and representatives of the Georgian Railway Department travelled to Nikozi on the new train.
