Assets in Georgian banks

Assets in Georgian banks recently topped GEL 9 billion (around USD 5 billion). Over the last year assets in Georgian banks increased by GEL 1.5 billion. As of July 1, 2010 there are 19 commercial banks and 2 affiliations of foreign banks functioning in Georgia. 13 banks have foreign capital in their assets. The banking sector in Georgia has proven quite solid and has resisted economic crisis quite successfully.
