On September 1, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkin visited the Peikrishvili family that has 5 children. The Minister presented the twins Nino and Besik Peikrishvili with textbooks. This year they will start in the first form of the Public School ¹190. Third grader Tamar Peikrishvili, who attends this school, also received the textbooks personally from the Minister. Dimitri Shashkin presented the other children of this family with gifts.

This year, for the first time, all vulnerable school children of forms 1-12 will receive textbooks free of charge from the state; the Peikrishvili children were given their textbooks as part of this programme.

The state has allocated GEL 8 million for the programme. The children will receive the textbooks in their schools before the beginning of the academic year. These textbooks will be kept in the school libraries in the future, so that other vulnerable school children will also be able to use them.
