Azeri entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Zakir Tagiev, in an interview to Regnum agency, expressed his confidence that Armenia, sooner or later, will be forced to find a common language with neighboring Azerbaijan and Turkey. Tagiev thinks that this was suggested during Medvedev’s visit to Baku. According to him, Russia is now interested in Karabakh conflict resolution and, according to Tagiev opinion there will be in favor of small local military operations taking place between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the near future. In this local war, Armenia would suffer great loses and then Russia would intervene, stopping the conflict and taking the role of arbiter. This situation will make it possible for Armenia’s leadership to explain to its people the making of concessions. This is the result of Armenia’s unwise and stubborn policy in the direction towards a solution to the Karabakh conflict. According to Tagiev, Russia has endorsed such a development; however he still expresses his hope that the situation can be resolved without military confrontation.
