Turkey losing Israeli tourists

By Messenger Staff
Thursday, September 23 The recent deterioration of relations between Israeli and Turkey is harming Turkish tourism industry. As the Turkish Tourism Ministry reported this summer, the amount of Israeli tourists deceased by 90%. According to official statistics this summer Turkey was visited by 2605 tourists from Israel whereas in 2009 more than 27 000 Israeli tourists visited Turkey. The report from the Ministry of Tourism states that Israeli tourists prefer traveling to Greece, and these figures support such an assumption. In 2009, Greece was visited by around 100 000 tourists whereas a year later around 250 000 tourists from Israel traveled to Greece.

Greek analysts however do not think that increased amount of Israeli tourists in Greece is due to the strained relations between Israel and Turkey. They mostly connect this sudden rise to the strengthening of relations between Israel and Greece.
