Russian company Itera will help Turkmenistan to provide its gas to NABUCCO, according Igor Makarov, Itera’s Chairman of the Board of directors. In may 2010, Turkmenistan started constructing a 1000 km long gas pipeline in an east-west direction, which will be finished by 2015. The cost, in excess of USD 2 bln will be covered by Turkmenistan. This pipeline could later go two ways – it could either connect with the pipelines to Russia or join the NABUCCO project through the Caspian sea and Azerbaijan. Itera is prepared to participate in the pipeline’s construction.
