Correction and Apology

Tuesday, October 26
The Messenger has been informed of an error made in last Friday’s edition in incorrectly assigning a quote to Mr. David Towndrow, of the NATO Maintenance and Supply agency instead of John Heffern, Deputy Ambassador of the US to NATO.

The third paragraph of the article, “Baltic delegation meets Georgian soldiers during NATO week” on page 5 of Friday 22nd October’s The Messenger, should have read:

The representatives of the Baltic countries in NATO expressed their readiness to promote Georgia’s integration to NATO at the upcoming Lisbon Summit. Stressing that the NATO member countries would keep their promise given to Georgia at the Bucharest Summit, the Deputy Ambassador of US to NATO John Heffern claimed that Georgia would by all means receive NATO membership. “The Lisbon Summit is an important event for us especially because we, the NATO member countries, will introduce a new strategy outlining the 21st century demands for NATO,” Heffern told the Georgian media.

The Messenger apologises sincerely to those misquoted and to its readers for the error and for any inconvenience caused.
