Only one in four Armenian families managed to maintain economic welfare after the financial crisis. The majority of families are not in good condition, according to Agaron Adibekian, the head of the Sociometer research center. The polling carried out by them showed that 20% of those questioned lost their jobs due to the crisis which, eventually, has increased the number of migrants from Armenia. 10% of those questioned refused to take costly medical treatment, 2% gave up studies and 5% were forced to take loans, as Adibekian mentioned 71% of those questioned mentioned that results of the crisis negatively impacted on their conditions. More than 33% positively assessed the measures taken by government. The researcher mentioned that, according to UN evaluation, 46% of Armenia’s population lives below the poverty line. However, only 19% of Armenians consider themselves to be poor.
