This October, the Russian central polling institution carried out a poll to determine Russian citizens' attitudes towards CIS countries. It is interesting to note that Georgia was included in the list even though it is no longer a CIS member. The most reliable partner for Russia was considered to be Kazakhstan, followed by Belarus and then Ukraine. Georgia was deemed the least reliable alongside Tajikistan. The most stable and successful country among the CIS members is Kazakhstan, then comes Belarus and third comes Ukraine. Among the leaders the most trusted is again the Kazakh president Nazarbaev, while Yanukovich of Ukraine was voted second ahead of Belarus president Lukashenko. The respondents clearly think that the interests of the Russian population are mostly protected in Belarus, Kazakhstan and then Ukraine.
