NABUCCO project to start in 2015

The NABUCCO project, which would provide an alternative gas supply to Europe, will start functioning by 2015, stated the Turkish representation of NABUCCO. Currently, detailed engineering is underway in the participating countries. As it is known, the longest pipeline will run through Turkey, around 2730 km. Construction will begin in 2012 and last for 3 years, ending in 2015. The cost of construction in Turkey will be 5 billion EUR. The overall cost of the project will be around 8 billion EUR. Major suppliers are Azerbaijan with supposedly Iraq and Turkmenistan involved in the negotiations.
