Armenia-Turkey border opening issue

Turkish polling agency MetroPOLL carried out research concerning the issue of opening the border between Turkey and Armenia, which was closed in 1993 after Armenia occupied Azeri territories of Karabakh and adjacent regions. More than 50 percent of the participants of the polling said that the border should not be opened. 27 percent supported the idea of opening the border, 22 percent of the participants refrained from commenting. The polling also showed that 53 percent of the Turkish population wants the country to enter the EU, 38 percent are against. 23 percent welcomed Iran creating a nuclear bomb, and 76 percent are concerned about such developments. The polling was conducted in December 2010 and more than 1500 respondents participated in it.
