Schools will be Equipped with Natural Sciences Laboratories in 2011

To support development of technical fields and enhance learning of Natural Sciences at schools, up to 150 public schools will be equipped with 450 laboratory units till March, 2011. From the new academic year, all schools will be supplied with modern Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories. The move is part of an initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, in the frames of the “Einstein” program started on October 26, 2010.

In parallel to supplying the schools with laboratories, trainings of the teachers are also organized. Today training was held for Physics, Chemistry and Biology teachers.

The trainers of the Ministry’s National Center for Teacher Professional Development introduced the teachers to modern laboratories' appliances. The laboratory consists of three units. Each of them contains 18 sub units according to the subjects. (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).

Modern technical equipment will assist the teachers to make teaching process more engaging and interesting. At the same time, modern technologies at schools will develop research skills among schoolchildren.

Training was attended by the Minister Dimitri Shashkini. “Within the frame of the ““Einstein” program, all schools will be furnished with up to date laboratories in this academic year. Retraining of the teachers and providing them with the information on utilizing this equipment in the learning process is very important as well”- highlighted the Minister.

On the initiative of the President of Georgia, various school competitions will be held with the use of the new laboratory equipments. The top students will be rewarded and supported.

The teachers' training will continue throughout Georgia.
