What would you ask the President if you had the chance?

Tuesday, January 25
“I would ask him when is he going to stop his constant PR campaign and start real work in Georgia. We are all fed up of him speaking only about how Georgia flourishes, when most of the population is on the verge of poverty.”
Manana, Teacher, 47

“I would ask how much he spends on these huge concerts held in Batumi. All of this money is taken from our pockets. I love music however music is really hard to appreciate when you are hungry.”
Emzari, Pensioner, 67

“I have no questions for him. It is useless to ask him anything, he will only talk about how victorious we are and that we are soon going to become like Singapore. This is becoming ridiculous.”
Mariam, Student, 23

“What’s the use of asking the President anything? He will answer whatever he wants and I will finally even have to thank him.”
Keti, Manager, 24

“I think there are lots of unanswered questions around our statehood… The political situation needs improvement, economical conditions are worsening, and social groups are suffering from poverty… I had better refrain from participating in debates with our President or I may face arrest for fighting with “his majesty.”
Davit, Engineer, 45

“I have a lot of questions, but first of all, I am a refugee and my question would be related with our problem. I would ask if he were a refugee and if his rights were violated and if he were one more time insulted, how would he behave?”
Natia, Painter, 35

“Well, I am very interested if he is going to stay in politics when his presidential term expires. I do not expect his answer will be sincere, as the political life and aims are not often oriented on telling truth, but I would ask this question.”
Giorgi, Manager, 25

“I would ask him why Autonomy of Adjara Region was not abolished when Aslan Abashidze (former leader of the region) fled to Moscow. Everyone should realise that that is no need for autonomous republics in such a small country as Georgia.”
Nugzar, Historian, 61

“I wonder what kind of response he will have about the IDPs’ eviction which took place recently in Tbilisi. This was an act of vandalism evicting them in such a way. There was huge number of policemen as if it was a kind of riot instead of the eviction those poor people. What does he think about it, how fair is it to place them in totally unknown places in western Georgia.”
Marina, Pensioner, 71

“I would like to know what is happening with our foreign affairs? We see our president meeting foreign leaders and more or less all European states and the USA supports us, especially regarding our sovereignty and territorial integrity. Although a news appeared about Belarus’ possible recognition of breakaway territories of Georgia. Let him answer what Georgian diplomats do in order to avoid such an unpleasant fact and if it happens what would be Georgia’s response towards the Belarus government.”
Keti, Student, 22

“My question would be about price increases in Georgia. Everyday food prices are increasing and it is getting more difficult to survive when you have a low salary or no salary at all. How the Georgian government will regulate prices on food and if increasing prices are expected in the future.”
Tamar, Housewife, 42
