In 2011, Tbilisi continues jazzing and invites Georgian jazz fans to celebrate a 4-month jazz season, 1 concert in each month.

In the frames of the jazz series, 2 performances, on December 2 of the previous year and on January 16 of the present year by a Grammy nominee Poogie Bell and his Band and PA Kyoto Jazz Massive were already held at Tbilisi Event Hall.

The concerts are being organized by Eastern Promotion and Tbilisi Event Hall, supported by numerous media partners including The Messenger, sponsored and presented by the Bank of Georgia and its exclusive personal banking SOLO.

On February 17 of 2011, jazz fans will have the chance to attend one more jazz evening and listen to music, full of strong Caribbean influence and swinging feeling, by a famous jazz pianist and melodica [also known as the "blow-organ" or "key-flute"] player with Jamaican roots Monty Alexander and his Trio.

“My trio and I are here to uplift the audience with our music and give the concert that people are expecting from us. I promise you, all of us will have a great time tomorrow,” Monty Alexander said at the press conference yesterday.

During the press conference, Brand Executive of the jazz season sponsor general the Bank of Georgia Sophie Balavadze added that it was a great honor for them to be the sponsors of the main musical events taking place in the country. “We were more than happy to give the Georgian jazz fans a chance to see real jazz legends on the stage,” she said on Tuesday.

Monty Alexander, who has recorded over 60 albums to date, used to work with numerous world renowned jazz gurus including: Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Bobby McFerrin, Quincy Jones etc.

However this is not the end of the jazz series, the final performance by Dwayne Dopsie & Hellraisers will be held on March 22 of 2011.

The concerts will take place at Tbilisi Event Hall starting at 9 p.m. The tickets are already available at a cost of GEL 60 at the Tbilisi Concert Hall box offices. There is also a special discount for the Bank of Georgia product, American Express Cards owners, for whom tickets will be 15% cheaper.
