Information on GUAM National Coordinators and Foreign Ministers' Council Meetings held in Kyiv

On 22-24 February 2011 the National Coordinators and Foreign Ministers' Council Meetings of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM were held in GUAM Secretariat in Kyiv.

At the above mentioned forum the Georgian delegation was chaired by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, GUAM National Coordinator Nikoloz Vashakidze. The urgent issues of cooperation within GUAM were discussed during the meetings, namely: the results of Ukrainian Chairmanship in GUAM in 2010 were assessed; the Chairmanship in the organization for 2011 was officially transmitted to Moldovan side; the priority areas of cooperation for 2011 were discussed; the importance of ongoing cooperation with the US and Japan and the necessity of adopting Framework Programs of cooperation with these partner countries were underlined.

At the GUAM Foreign Ministerial Council's meeting the special attention was paid to the importance of sectoral interagency cooperation within GUAM relevant Working Groups; development of interaction with other countries and international organizations; promotion of GUAM Resolutions on protracted conflicts and GUAM-UN cooperation within UN GA 65th Session. The Ministers also discussed the financial and organizational issues within GUAM.
