Russian gas will not go up for Armenia in 2011

In 2011, the price of Russian natural gas for Armenian consumers will not go up. This agreement was reached during the St. Petersburg meeting between the Presidents of Russia and Armenia on February 25. Moreover, according to the special decree of the Armenian President, the gas tariff will even go down for the vulnerable population of Armenia. In December last year, Armros- Gazprom leadership stated that gas for Armenia would go up from April 2011. Currently, Armenia is paying USD 180 for 1000 q.m. of natural gas. In 2010, Belarus was buying Russian gas from USD 187, Ukraine – USD 260 though in 2011 Gazprom plans to increase the price for Belarus up to USD 230 and up to 290 for Ukraine.
