Shamil Atahanov: Kirgizia to be Worthy Follower of Georgia in Reforms Implementation

Kyrgyzstan will be a worthy follower of Georgia in reforms implementation.

According to the head of Kyrgyz delegation Shamil Atahanov, who is paying a visit to Georgia, his country is grateful to the Georgian side for information on the reforms implemented in the country and promised that Kyrgyzstan would be a worthy follower of Georgia in reforms implementation.

"We are grateful to Georgia and I think that Kyrgyzstan will be able to say soon that it is the worthy follower of Georgia" – told journalists Shamil Atahanov.

"For successful experience of democratic reforms and changes, working methods and mechanisms are required. This is what Georgia has already done," - said Atahanov.

The Kyrgyz delegation, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Atakhanov arrived in Tbilisi on March 3. A goal of the delegation’s visit was acquaintance with the process of reforms implemented in Georgia.

Fire destroys Ozurgeti Culture House in Western Georgia

Culture House was burnt down in the town of Ozurgeti of Guria Region in Western Georgia. The fire broke out on the second floor of the building late Saturday night.

Six fire brigades arrived at the site and tried to extinguish the fire for several hours.

The building was completely destroyed by the fire, although it did not spread to the adjacent building.

Experts are counting the cost of the damage inflicted by the disaster at site and an investigation is underway. The exact cause or causes for the fire are expected to be ascertained soon.

Discussion On Reorganization Of Ministry of Environmental Protection And Natural Resources To Be Resumed In Parliament

A discussion of issues, related to the reorganization of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources resumed on March 4 in Parliament.

Draft of amendments to the law "On structure, powers and procedures of the government’s activity” were discussed at the sitting of a parliamentary committee of environmental protection and natural resources.

After the reorganization at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, it will be renamed in the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

The natural resources section of the ministry will be transferred to the Ministry of Energy, which will be renamed in the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

Georgia and Congo Established Diplomatic Relations

Georgia and Congo have established diplomatic relations.

Georgia and Congo signed a protocol on the establishment of diplomatic and consular relations between the two countries. According to the document, Georgia and Congo will develop bilateral relations in accordance with the fundamental norms and principles of the United Nations, including principles of territorial integrity and sovereign equality.

The protocol was signed by permanent representatives of Congo and Georgia to the United Nations, Raimond Balli and Aleksandre Lomaia.

Days Of Culture Of Switzerland Opens In Georgia

Days of culture of Switzerland are to be held in Georgia.

As Prime-News was told at the Ministry of Culture and Monuments Protection, the cultural days of Switzerland will be opened by Swiss pianist Carl Andreas Kohl.

According to organizers the project is aimed at deepening the cultural relations between the two countries and promoting cooperation and a creative dialogue among young musicians.

In the framework of the cultural days of Switzerland in Georgia, a series of concerts and master classes will be held in the cities of Tbilisi, Rustavi and Gori.

The closing ceremony of the project will be held on March 12 at the Arts Academy of Georgia.

Georgian Educational Week 2011 opens in Tbilisi

Georgian Educational Week 2011 has opened in Tbilisi. The first day of the event opened on Saturday in the Expo-Georgia Exhibition Centre with en exhibition, which will last for a week until March13.

The event has been organized by Georgia`s Education Ministry and Tbilisi Mayor`s Office. The state as well as private and foreign higher education institutes are being represented at the exhibition.

Onlookers can get acquainted with everything that higher education institutes presented at the exhibition can offer university entrants.

52 higher education institutes in total are taking part in the exhibition.

New head of FC Dinamo Tbilisi views training bases

The new Managing Director of FC Tbilisi Dinamo, Zurab Pololikashvili met with the members of the football club at the Dinamo training base yesterday and introduced his plans for the club’s development.

It was his first meeting with the staff of the club since taking on the role. Zurab Pololikashvili met with the president of the club Roman Pipia and viewed the training field, which is under reconstruction at present.

According to the plan, the Dinamo training base must become a sport complex of modern standards with modern equipment, two new fields and a renovated living block for footballers.

It has been clarified that the reports about staff changes in the FC Dinamo management were not true.

Pololikashvili said that the current staff of the club would continue to work until the end of the season, before their contract terms expire.

Members of FC Dinamo have welcomed the changes in the managing staff, hoping for an improvement in their working conditions.
