Azeri analysts are skeptical about Sochi meeting

Thursday, March 10
As it is known, at the beginning of March, Russian president Medvedev brokered a meeting between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan. Azeri political analysts Zardusht Alizade as well as fellow analyst Rasim Agaev consider that there is little optimism about the results of the bilateral dialogue as there has been no progress towards a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict. There is also opinion in Azerbaijan that in Armenia there is a tense situation between the ruling party and the opposition. In an attempt to control the situation, Russia with the consent of western countries demanded a meeting of Azeri and Armenian presidents to explain to them that any kind of hostile confrontation would be undesirable for leading world countries.
