BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR PLANET IS THE GOAL AS SHERATON METECHI PALACE HOTEL AND SHERATON BATUMI HOTEL GOES DARK FOR EARTH HOUR 2011

For Third Year, Starwood Hotels and Resorts Around the Globe Join Together to Mark Environmental Awareness Event

Sheraton Metechi Palace hotel, and now at the stage First international 5 star hotel in Adjara - Sheraton Batumi Hotel, Bank Republic and sell phone operator Geocell joined millions around the world to send a powerful message about a brighter future for the planet.

On the 26th of March 2009 the Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel joined global Event with the guests and organized Candle light party to send a powerful global message about environmental awareness and caring for the planet.

Hotel guests, media and authorities were invited through in-room voicemail messages and E-mail on the Special Cocktail dedicated to the Earth Hour, where guest could enjoy live music, green cocktails, snacks and Cozy atmosphere with candles. Among the invited guests were potential supporters for earth hour 2011.

Hotel was decorated with creative compositions, candles, green balloons flowers and many more. All gusts received green bracelets as a symbol of the event which was tied on their wrists by the famous Georgian Singer. After the official speeches Sheraton projected official video roll followed by counting form 10 to backward to switch of lights. At 8:30 unplugged concert of Georgian musicians started. Guests enjoyed variety of green cocktail and cold snacks prepared of bio products.

As a result Ministry of Environment and City Authorities supported the Initiative and switched off Tbilisi city hall and Tbilisi TV broadcasting tower. The campaign also was followed by Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel, HSBC Bank, and Bank Republic

On 25th of March, press conference took place at the Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel where the supporters of the Earth Hour once again send up the message to all society of the country to join this amazing initiative.

Earth Hour is drawing strong support from Starwood hotels around the globe.

This year will mark Starwood’s third annual participation in Earth Hour, making it one of the biggest worldwide companies to make a global statement with a voluntary hour of darkness.

As promised, we extend our initiatives to more companies; we are planning huge campaign to move beyond the borders of the capital by involving Sheraton Batumi as well as other international and local companies in other regions of Georgia.

We hope that next year we will extend our initiatives to more companies and will send global powerful message for saving our planet.
