Do you think US should provide Georgia with weapons or not?

Thursday, March 31
“I think that it is right decision at the present moment. Georgia will never be able to oppose Russians, regardless of how many weapons we have. Providing Georgia with weapons would create a more tense situation in the region.”
Goga, Sociologist, 41

“To my mind, it would not be bad if the United States would provide the country with defensive weapons, we need such weapons even to control borders better.”
Natia, Manager, 31

“I am not aware of political issues, however, I think that Americans estimate the reality and situation better, if they decide that it will not be a good move, it means that they can forecast what outcomes this decision might bring.”
Nino, Musician, 26

“They train our army and support us in the military field. This is their political decision and also a political step. Maybe they are selling weapons to us but this is kept in secret..”
Sophio, Journalist, 23

The US is not the only provider of the weapons for Georgia, we also use Ukranian, Israeli, Czech and Turkish arms, so even without Americans we will have plenty of choice where to buy it - all we need is the money and the will.
Temur, Writer, 29

“I think that the arms embargo is really unfair in conditions when we have such an aggressive neighbour in the North. But it is not up to us to decide. It is up to our allies. I guess the US does not want to spoil its relations with Russia.”
Niko, economist, 30

“What’s the use of additional arms? Our only real enemy is Russia. With or without arms we cannot defeat Russia in case of war anyway. So, I don’t think we should make a big deal out of an arms embargo.”
Gocha, engineer, 44
