As Georgian analysts suggest the cost of land cultivation in Georgia increases every year. They say to cultivate 1 hectare of land, the farmer needs at a minimum 500 GEL to cover the costs of purchasing seeds, purchasing and spreading fertilizers, fuel for the machines, and labour costs. Many Georgian farmers cannot afford this cost. Therefore they cultivate land in the old manner, using manual labor but still it costs a minimum of 300 lari for cultivating one hectare land. Therefore as analysts summarizes an estimated 70% of lands are not being cultivated.
