Spotlight falls on Tbilisi in dynamic literary project

Wednesday, April 13
A digital chain of literary portraits of European cities – United Cities of Europe – is being created and in the spring of 2011 the focus will be on Tbilisi. This digital portrait of Tbilisi will be published in Georgian, Dutch, English and French on a website, as a podcast that can be downloaded – read by the author and actors – and as an e-book. In the first part of the citybooks Project nine European cities will be involved: Utrecht, Oostende, Sheffield, Charleroi, Bucharest, Chartres, Graz, Skopje and Tbilisi (see: www.city-books.eu).

A Dutch, a Flemish and three Georgian authors give impressions of Tbilisi in prose (short story, essay) or in poetry. To complete the digital portrait both a Georgian photographer and a Flemish visual artist will make 24 images each.

The ambassador of the Netherlands to Georgia HE Pieter Langenberg and the Chairman of Tbilisi City Council Zaal Samadashvi attended the opening ceremony welcoming the participants and the guests on April 8 at the presentation of the photos of Tbilisi by Filip Berte and Kakha Kakhiani.
