Turkey wants to activate the Shahdeniz sector of the Azeri stretch of the Caspian Sea and wants to extort 16 bln cubic meters of gas annually. This issue was discussed by the minister of natural resources and energy of Turkey and BP's leadership. The Turkish minister was given information about the possibilities in this direction and possible completion of the necessary works by 2016-2017. Turkey receives 6.6 bln cubic meters of gas annually from Azerbaijan some of which is exported to Greece. It is deemed very important to activate Shahdeniz gas field to satisfy the demand of the NABUCCO gas pipeline project. So, although there are some uncertainties about NABUCCO, small steps are being made towards satisfying this project.
