Popularization of Sport Continues

Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini and the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports of Georgia Lado Vardzelashvili signed a memorandum of cooperation to ensure a healthy lifestyle among Georgian youth on April 21. Within the frame of this memorandum, all acting sport federations throughout Georgia will be held accountable to enhance the performance of schoolchildren in sport at schools, developing and popularizing various types of sports.

Leagues will be formed in different types of sports and championships will be organized among the schools. In 2010 the physical culture classes were replaced by Sports classes. Schools are already involved in the school championships and a healthy lifestyle is being adopted by the youth.

Schools are free to choose from different types of sports. After signing the memorandum, sport federations will be actively engaged in organizing the school championship that will make the process more organized. This initiative will also make each type of sport more popular and increase the access of schoolchildren to sport.

By the announcement of the Minister Shashkini, similar cooperation among the two ministries will encourage the schoolchildren and assist them to better apply their resources in sport.
