Tourism Info Center opened in Mtskheta

New Tourism Info Center was opened in the newly rehabilitated part of Mtskheta under the initiative of National Tourism Agency.

The Info Center was opened by Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Vera Kobalia, and Chief of National Investment Agency, Maia Sidamonidze.

They examined the newly opened center with the representatives of the regional administration. During the interview with journalists, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development noted that Mtskheta is one of the most important places for tourism; the tourism center will enable visitors to obtain detailed information about various services and plan their route in a better way.

Moreover, according to Vera Kobalia, National Tourism Agency is working on the creation of a unified network of info centers. Sighnaghi, Kvareli, Mestia, and Kutaisi info centers have already been opened and similar centers will also be opened in Gori, Tbilisi International Airport, Batumi, Zugdidi and Anaklia in the near future.

Mtskheta Tourism Info Center will provide information not only about transportation, accommodation and diners, but it will also provide various services and excursion routes. The Tourism Info Centers will also provide 24/7 internet connection to the visitors free of charge.

120 000 people visited Mtskheta in 2010; 87% of them were sightseeing; 3% of the visits were organized by tour operators. Most of the visitors were from Israel, Germany, France, USA, Russia, Japan, England and Ukraine.

Mtskheta City is one of the most important attractions of Eastern Georgia, which is visited by most of visitors to Georgia regardless of the purpose of their visit. The History of Mtskheta originates from the third millennium B.C and it has many historical monuments. The former Capital of Georgia is famous for its historical, religious, architectural and archaeological monuments. Effective surroundings and reconstructed parts of old Mtskheta are interesting to tourists with any taste.
