According to Wikileaks information, China is determined to expand in central Asia economically thus it will seek to find an arrangement where it can co-exist with Russia in the region. China appreciates the position of Kazakhstan in particular which carries out a balanced policy. Russia tries to exercise its former influence in the area however all the central Asian countries are trying to implement a policy of protecting their own interests. China meanwhile suggests its own policy and is offering alternative ways of distributing energy. More pipelines and routes are being mapped out in the direction of China. In Central Asia, there is a mixture of cooperation and rivalry in economic relations between China and Russia.
