MA studies of 50 displaced persons will be funded

According to the decree of the Georgian government, MA studies of the most successful 50 displaced persons will be funded with 2 250 GEL each under a social assistance program for 2011-2012 academic year. Overall, 112 500 GEL has been allocated by the Georgian government for students’ social assistance program. First Deputy Minister of Justice Tinatin Burjaliani, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science Koka Sepherteladze and Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees Koba Subeliani held a briefing on this issue.

The following fields of studies at masters level will be financed: International Relations, International Law and Criminal Law (International Criminal law)

Funding of the above mentioned fields is conditioned by the status of the students themselves. As the direct participants of the conflicts, the MA students will be able to manage the court issues concerning the conflicts and displacement at the international organizations and courts.

Only those displaced MA students who have passed the Graduate Record Examinations and enrolled at the higher educational institutions of Georgia at masters level programs but were not able to obtain a state scholarship will have the opportunity to get funded under the above mentioned program.

The students shall submit the application and relevant documentations at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia no later than 31 October, 2011.
