Ossetians shot a young woman

Kviris Palitra writes that on July 11 from the village of Znauri there was a shootings from Ossetian separatists side against Knolevi village, as a result of which a 25 year-old woman was wounded and is now receiving medical treatment at Gori hospital. The health condition of the wounded woman is very poor and doctors have not yet make public a prognosis.

The family of the victim of the latest shootings lives near the last Georgian checkpoint at the so called border of Tskhinvali region although Georgian police could not defend this woman who reportedly visited her parents at home together with her child.

There are frequent cases where Ossetian snipers shoot at the Georgian population from their controlled territory. This shooting continues after the war and the Georgian police cannot protect several families who live nearby the checkpoint.



Archaeologists made unique discovery at Georgia-Azerbaijan border

Archaeologists have made a unique discovery at the Georgia-Azerbaijan border - the excavation diggings have led the scientists to the remains of an ancient city, which according to their expertise, dates back to the fifth century BC, 24 Hours reports.

The scientists say the newly discovered ancient city resembles the one discovered in Tsnori, Alazani Valley in terms of the things found during the excavation diggings.

The experts say the city was the first sample of a capital building, adding that the residents of the two metropolises had similar cultures.

The ancient city was located on 20 hectares of land. The group of Georgian, German and Azeri archaeologists has been working at the site since 2006 and they have now discovered five remains of ancient palaces.
