Unemployment slightly decreased in 2010

Unemployment decreased in 2010 by 0.6% from figures in 2009, according to the Statistical Department. As they explain, this is due to the stabilization of the economic situation in the country. The increased working opportunities in many industries have been mainly visible in cities and towns. Of those members of the populations who are listed as in employment, 69% are self employed whereas 38% are employed. The level of unemployment in Tbilisi has decreased by 0.5% while the level of unemployment in Adjara decreased by 4.2%, most probably due to the high level of construction projects being undertaken in the region.
