Nineli Chankvetadze: Robert Sturua 'persona non grata' for authorities

In her interview to Kvela Siakhle well known Georgian actress Nineli Chankvetadze talked about the current situation in theaters and said that she heard that the position of art director of the theater may be abolished. It transpired that this is connected to Robert Sturua, art director of Rustaveli Theatre, who is not favored by the authorities because of his critical assessments of the government.

“He is a well known and great theatre director and naturally it is not easy to dismiss him as such, that is why they want to think of something that will make it possible to dismiss him from his position in the frameworks of “law”. He would be welcomed at any theater around the world and he will be praised as he deserves, it is known that geniuses are not praised in Georgia,” Chankvetadze says.
