The Armenian national congress recently stated that the Armenian administration wants to destroy the middle class in the country. This opinion was stated after the government decided to restrict trade in the small kiosks in the Yerevan. The national congress thinks removing these trade entities will assist the big supermarkets which of course belong to the oligarchs. They are ignoring the needs of the population and do not care for their country’s dire social situation leading to mass emigration. The congress asks the government to stop removing small kiosks. The initiator of this controversial move is the Mayor’s office of Yerevan which wants to remove more than 3000 kiosks in the centre of Yerevan.
