Minister of Education Dimitri Shashkin meets journalists to discuss innovations

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkin, met journalists to discuss the innovations planned for the 2011-2012 academic year.

During the seminar organized for journalists, the Minister covered the following topics:

Free textbooks for socially vulnerable schoolchildren; Lower prices for textbooks; Building new schools and vocational colleges; Improvement of educational infrastructure; E-Strategies; 60,000 free net-books for all 1st graders and their teachers; 1000 portable computers for successful schoolchildren; Capacity building for teachers and salary increases; The new National Curriculum; Strengthening applied and natural sciences; Intensification of English language training; Strengthening of Georgian language teaching; Capacity building for resource officers; Support for Professional Education ; Foreign professors at higher education institutions of Georgia; The Millennium Project – building new higher education institution

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia answered journalists' questions and a seminar for journalists was organized through financial support by the United Nations Children's Education Fund, UNICEF.
