Irakli Alasania – Free Democrats negotiate with professional consulting companies

The Leader of Free Democrats Party Irakli Alasania told InterPressNews that the Party has begun negotiations with professional Consulting Firms and have hired an American lobbying firm, BGR Government Affairs LLC, based in Washington.

Alasania says that according to law, Georgian businessmen and citizens of Georgia have the right to make donations to the Party in spite of what the Government has been stating.

“Saakashvili’s repressive regime intimidates political parties... yet despite this, there are citizens who resist this pressure and I hope that issues of financing will be solved soon. The report on who finances the Party and how will be presented publicly”, Alasania said.

International conference ends in Batumi

The three-day international conference "Civil Society and Politics" organized by the Christian Democratic Movement has ended.

Levan Vepkhvadze, one of the leaders of the Christian –Democrats, summarized the conference and awarded certificates to participants. CDM invited representatives form eight countries, who discussed democracy and media development. They examined the role of social networks in the development of civil society.

NATO information corner opened in Kobuleti

Residents of Kobuleti can now get direct information about the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The NATO Information Corner opened in the hotel Georgian Palace in Kobuleti today. Information leaflets in Georgian, Azeri and Armenian are available and interested persons can learn about the goals of the organizations, its cooperation with Georgia and the activities of the Georgian Government within the process of integration into NATO.

Similar corners will soon be opened in other cities of Georgia.

Three people died in a road accident

Three people died and eleven were injured in a road accident that occurred near the Agara settlement, Shida Kartli Region, on Monday morning. A Mercedes car crashed into a Mercedes minibus. The accident occurred so suddenly, that eyewitnesses failed to describe the exact events. One of the dead is the driver of minibus, while two others were passengers in the car.

Injured passengers were transferred to the nearest clinic, but one pregnant woman was hospitalized in the Gudushauri Hospital in Tbilisi, due to her critical state.

31 year-old man arrested for killing his father

A 31 year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder. Zurab Tsirekidze is accused of killing his father with a sharp object. The older man quickly died of his injuries.

The father and son had an argument about family issues. According to some, the son suspected his father of being intimate with his wife and had planned the murder in advance. Another person, a friend of the defendant, Aleksandre Gigolashvili has been also detained and charged with concealing the crime.

The investigation is in progress under the articles N376 and N108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
