Gabashvili: "Theater will not miss Sturua"

In his interview to Kviris Palitra Goka Gabashvili, a ruling party MP made a comment on the dismissal of Robert Sturua from the post of Art Director at Tbilisi's Rustaveli Theater.

Gabashvili said that Sturua has made several xenophobic and racist statements, which are not acceptable for such high ranking person adding that any artist would apologize after making such statements, but Sturua did not. At the journalist's remark that Sturua apologized to the Armenian people for his statement, Gabashvili responded that the authorities have not heard this from Sturua.

“The theater will not miss Sturua because he has never been (entirely) dismissed from the theatre and can continue his activities both in the theater and for stage performances,” Gabashvili said.

At the question about what Gabashvili thinks of Saakashvili’s xenophobic statements made previously, Gabashvili said that “Saakashvili’s position is that Georgia is a multicultural country and each Georgian citizen has equal rights in our country.”

We, Ourselves movement changes name

The political movement We, Ourselves, founded by MP Paata Davitaia, has decided to highlight its European aspirations and change its name to Georgia's European Democrats. The party made the decision at a session held after five years of work, 24 Hours writes.

The leader of the party, Paata Davitaia, says that with the change of the party name they have demonstrated once again that Georgia is moving towards the European Union and that it wants to become a member of the European family. We, Ourselves is still the slogan of the party, but the logo will be changed to look like the flag of the European Union with one more star on it, which will signify Georgia.
