David Bakradze Participated in Eastern Partnership Conference

Monday, October 3
The speaker of parliament, David Bakradze, participated in the Conference of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) "Towards European Democratic Community, Welfare and Strong Civil Society”, held in Warsaw. In his speech, David Bakradze spoke about conflict resolution in the region of the EaP countries and the restarting of negotiations on the deep and comprehensive free trade agreement (DCFTA) between Georgia and the EU.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Great Britain, Nick Clegg, made a significant speech as well. He argued that EaP countries deserve and should become EU members. Another positive message was given by the European Commissioner, Stefan Fule. He suggested negotiations with Georgia on the DCFTA will be restarted and the new phase of the negotiations on visa facilitation will be launched.

After the opening of the conference, Bakradze met his Polish counterpart, Grzegorz Schetyna. At the meeting, the parties spoke about the future prospects of cooperation and enhancement of relations between the two countries. Bakradze will visit Sweden on October 1 to participate in the conference "The European Eastern Neighborhood – between authoritarian and democratic transition”.
