Bakradze commented on Sarkozy’s visit assessments

WEdnesday, October 12
The Chairman of the Parliament echoed the visit of the President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy to Tbilisi two days ago and made the commend concerning his address at the Freedom Square.

“The visit of Nicolas Sarkozy caused various responses. There may exist various political views, political evaluations but we all are the citizens of this country and it would be preferable not to sacrifice this important signal and support to the different political evaluations. The part of different evaluations is unacceptable to me not only due to political opinion but disdain and incomprehension of the words of the President of France ruins interests of Georgia. What we heard on Saturday was of utmost importance, it was the direct support from the European politician, that Georgia is the member of the European family and our country will without doubt become the member of EU. We have the diplomatic struggle during the years in order to obtain the European perspective and the address of Mr. Sarkozy was the direct support not only to some political force but to the whole country,” David Bakradze stated.

The Chairman of Parliament also spoke about the messages by Nicolas Sarkozy on conflict resolution and restoration of relations with Russia. "Let’s accept the speech of Nicolas Sarkozy as support to our country and let’s not consider it in a narrow political frame. The President of France has not delivered the similar messages in our neighboring countries and thus let’s not reduce the significance of such important visit.” he noted.
