Saakashvili Decorates French Ambassador with the Presidential Order of Excellence

On October 14, the President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, decorated the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France in Georgia, Erik Furnie, with the Presidential Order of Excellence. Saakashvili thanked the outgoing ambassador for his work and contribution in the process of strengthening ties between Georgia and the Republic of France during his time of service. The farewell meeting was attended by French diplomats as well as by the representatives of the diplomatic corps.

Erik Furnie has been serving in Georgia since September 2007 and his term ends on October 23, 2011. Erik Furnie will continue his work as head of department at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
