Starts project “Choice on you”

Tuesday, November 8
The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Irine Kurdadze; the chairman of the non-governmental organization “New Generation-New Initiative,” Mikheil Devdariani; and the head of HIV prevention in Georgia, Mamuka Jibuti held a briefing about the implementation of a new project: “Choice on You”.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia supports “Choice on You” as a main component of HIV prevention in Georgia. USAID is funding the project while the organization “New Generation-New Initiative” implements it.

The projects’ aim is to connect IX-XII forms schoolchildren in various competitions--such as the national competition “Make right choice!” slogans and photos competition--and activities, including a short theatrical performance and competition for World AIDs day marathons.

The aim of the competition is to encourage schoolchildren to live healthy life, increase young people’s awareness about the negative effects of HIV infection and dangerous habits (drugs, tobacco, alcohol), and also to foster schoolchildren’s creative skills and intellectual development.

Secondary schools’ IX-XII forms schoolchildren are invited to participate in the competitions. Schoolchildren who wish to participate, must register at the web-site www.geoyouth.ge and familiarize themselves with the rules of competition.

Winners will be awarded and receive certificates, along with special prices and certificates given to their school directors and participating teachers. The awards ceremony will hold on 10th of December, 2011 at the cultural international center, “Muza”.
