Galliano's Amazing 11/11/11 Concert

Tuesday, November 15
World-known French accordion player Richard Galliano performed at Tbilisi Concert Hall on November 11. Dedicating his fourth Georgian musical trip as a tribute to Nino Rota, the French virtuoso performed music from the Italian composer’s works including Federico Fellini’s La Strada (Road) as well as Love Theme from Francis Ford Coppola’s Godfather and Rota’s other masterpieces from famous Italian films. The Messenger congratulates General Director of Tagiss Arts Ani Lagidze, and Projector Group, organizers of the project, who kept their promise and offered an amazing evening to the Georgian audience.

Sharing his new adaptation of Nino Rota’s music with Georgian admirers of Italian music, Galliano performed with La Strada Quintet’s British saxophonist John Surman, Russian contrabass player Boris Kozlov, and US musicians such as the jazz drummer Clarence Penn and trumpeter Dave Douglas. They made the audience feel they were part of the unfading Italian cinematographic tradition. The Messenger is pleased to be a media partner of Richard Galliano’s concert and shared the musical emotions of Nino Rota, whose one-hundredth anniversary is being celebrated this year.
