Georgia and Haiti have established diplomatic relations

Tuesday, December 20
On 16 December 2011, Georgia and Haiti signed a protocol on the establishment of diplomatic and consular relations.

According to this protocol, mutual relations between the two countries - which are both striving to develop political, economic, humanitarian and cultural relations - will be guided by the principles of friendly relations, national sovereignty, sovereign equality, territorial integrity and the inviolability of state borders.

The protocol was signed in Georgia's Permanent Representation to the U.N. in New York by the Ambassador of Haiti to the United Nations, Mr. Jean Wesley Cazea, and by the Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Mr. Alexander Lomaia.

In compliance with international practice, both parties informed the U.N. Secretary-General Mr. Ban Ki-moon of the establishment of diplomatic relations between their two countries.
