Georgian president honors four persons with award of brilliance

The Georgian president honored on Sunday four persons with the presidential award of brilliance for their special contribution made to the development of sports in Georgia and the success achieved on the international stage.

Among those awarded were: Besik Liparteliani, the president of the Georgian National Basketball Federation; Igor Kokoshkov, the Chief Coach of the Georgian National Basketball Federation; Giorgi Nizharadze, the President of the Georgian Rugby Union and James Richard Dixon, the head of Rugby Development Programs in Georgia.

The awarding ceremony was held in the town of Kvareli of Kakheti Region in Eastern Georgia. Mikheil Saakashvili thanked all the guests for their successes achieved in basketball as well as rugby. The president said it is to the merit of those persons that a loser`s mentality has been defeated in the country.

After the ceremony, Igor Kokoshkov presented the president with T-shirts of the Georgian National Basketball team as well as the Phoenix Suns.
