Visitors to Georgia

The Ministry of the Interior has published its statistics of visitors to Georgia in 2011. Georgia was visited by 2.8 million foreign citizens in total in the last year. Going back to 2006 it is possible to see how visitor numbers have been increasing year on year. In 2006 Georgia was visited by 763,000 foreigners; in 2007 by 1 mln; 2008 - 1.3 mln; 2009 - 1.5 mln; 2010 - 2 mln. Most of the visitors during this period came to Georgia in July and August. In 2011 the majority of the visitors to Georgia were from Turkey - 738,000; Azerbaijan - 712,000; Armenia - 698,000. In 2011 Georgia was visited by 278,000 people from Russia; 136,000 from EU countries; 60,000 from Iran and 58,000 from Ukraine.
